Integrity, Professionalism and Rigor

Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Paris, after a residency in Paris in General Surgery and then in Plastic Surgery, he pursued an academic career to become the youngest appointed professor in plastic surgery in France. After his military service at the General Hospital of Dakar, from where he left as a reserve captain of the French Army Health Service, Dr. Michel Alain Danino underwent a 14-month post-doctoral training in the Universities of Chiba and Tokyo in Japan. He is currently a full-time professor of surgery at the University of Montreal, and head of the plastic surgery department at the University of Montreal Hospital Center.

Very early in his career, Dr. Danino became interested in forensic medicine and bioethics, which led to a PhD thesis on informed consent in the laboratory of forensic medicine at the University of Paris VII. More recently, he obtained a diploma in forensic medicine at the University of Montreal.

Along with his outstanding academic career, Dr. Danino maintains a sustained clinical activity in all the leading fields of plastic surgery, from hand surgery to burn surgery. His participation in the world’s very first events of their type, such as the second facial transplant, his 279 papers published in peer-reviewed journals, his complete independence and impartiality have made him a recognized expert for more than 5 years in numerous causes. Dr. Danino is also an expert at the Court of Appeal of Paris (France) and the International Court of Justice of The Hague.
